Chapter 3 - Alignment

Alignment

"Find a strong line and use it."

Alignment - Do not put things onto the page arbitrarily to fill up space. Every item should have a connection with something else on the page. Even though the items are not close together they can still be aligned, and create a sense of organization.

eg.

In this one nothing is aligned and everything is thrown on the card to fill up space.

In this on there is an invisible line that everything is against. This creates a sense of organization and makes it look simpler, and when something is simple, more people will read it.

Page 44 and 45 example.

9 ways we can align this page better.

1. Move the M symbol and align it with the bottom of the paragraph to its left.

2. Take the same M symbol and align it to the paragraphs left side that's above it.

3. Take the line under the title and picture and align it with the paragraphs edges.

4. Align the title with the right paragraph.

5. Take the picture and align it with the left paragraph.

6. Align the top of the title, with the top of the picture, and bottom of the picture.

7. Align the top of the paragraphs with each other.
